このプロジェクトは、メルボルン在住のアーティストゆみ・うみうまれによる研究プロジェクトで、日本のシャーマニズムともいえる呪術とアートの関係を探求するものです。

このプロジェクトを通して、ゆみは、科学者、アニマル・コミュニケーター、チャネラー、呪術スペシャリストや司祭者(冠婚葬祭の儀式と仕事にしている人)の日本人の専門家や、アボリジニの人を含む現地オーストラリアのアーティスト達との会話を通し、さまざまなエクスペリメントをしてゆきます。

私たちがこの地球上に生きていく以上、全てが人が人生のクリエーター(アーティスト)になれるのではないか?という望みとともに、この度のお話会を通し、スペシャリスト達から学んだ貴重なお話や、体験談をシェアしてゆく機会です

 ”このプロジェクトは「芸術は呪術だ!」という岡本太郎の言葉から触発を受けて始まったものです。30年以上、アーティスト・芸術家として生きてきた私の目に、再びこの言葉が目飛び込んできたのも、「呪術的パワー」をアートの根本として捉え直してみたい、という渇望のようなものからです。アートがエンターテーメントや娯楽、商業としてのみ存在しかねない現代社会の中、いま私たちはアーティストは何を問いただし、熟考し、行動してゆくべきか。まさにこのコロナ渦の現代、見えない不安や情報に踊らされている今こそ、この「見えない力」というものに目を向け、耳を傾け、匂い、触り、味わってみる、まさに五感を駆使して、さらに「六感」を鍛えてゆく作業が芸術の持つ「呪術的パワー」を復興させる過程になるのではないかと思えてならないのです。”           ゆみ・うみうまれ

シャイヤ・土屋
長野県生まれ。ロサンゼルス、ラスベガスを経て現在セドナ在住。
日本・アメリカにて15年以上の動物病院勤務の経験を持つ動物医療の専門家であると同時に、幼い頃から授かるスピリチュアル能力を活かし、アニマルコミュニケーターの先駆者であるペネロペ・スミス(Penelope Smith)に師事、アニマルコミュニケーションを極める。そのスピリチュアル能力は動物だけに限らず、高次元からのエネルギーを受け取るチャネリングを可能にし、また、各種コーチング・カウンセラースキルや心理・量子力学知識など現世スキルを駆使し、地に足のついたスピリチュアルとして、人々の癒しとより良い人生を歩んで頂くサポート役「ライフクリエーター」として活動の軸をシフトさせている。2010年から聖地セドナの持つ大地の力強さ・インスピレーションに魅せられ2014年移住。その能力から特にネイティブアメリカン組織より聖地巡礼や各セレモニーを司る資格を与えられ、大地に根付くシャーマニズムを身体に摂り入れている。現在ではシャーマニズムをベースにチャネリング、ソマチック、コーチングなど多岐に渡るスピリチュアルを統合したテラ・スピリチュアリズムを提唱し、人々の肉体・精神・魂の癒しと統合・再生のための活動を行うと共にそのスキルを広める人材育成に励んでいる。 シャイヤのHP

 

濱田秀樹
1965年、大阪府生まれ。シャーマニズム、呪術のスペシャリスト。
ネイティブアメリカン、ラコタ・スー族のメディスン・ウーマンであるキャロル・プラウドフット・エドガー氏にシャーマンとしての資質を見いだされる。1995年渡米、エドガー女史に師事しネイティブアメリカンのマインドや正式な儀式を学ぶ。世界のシャーマニズムの活動をサポートする組織”シャーマニック・サークルズ”で、唯一の日本人評議会メンバーを務める。

イーグルトライブ代表。心理セラピストとしても、ワークショップやトレーニングプログラムを行う。心理学が日常生活に役立つよう、参加者を指導し、様々な場所でシャーマニズムに関するワークショップを行っている。

アマラ京子
魂のにおいが好き。 約20年前、突如声が降りてくるようになり、以来インディアンドラム片手に世界各地で唄い続け、日本のドラム&ヴォイスワークの第一人者でもある。 延べ9000人の魂をみてきたチャネラーでもあり、その人の魂のルーツを霊視し伝えることを生業にしている。 その他、舞踏パフォーマンス、女性器画家、女性性解放のワークショップ開催、ネィティヴアメリカンの秘技であるパワーアニマルセレモニーをするなど、アートとシャーマニズムな活動をこなす。2017年、東京から岩手県の早池峰山の麓に移住。「イーハトーヴ 山と水の太陽舎」という屋号で築100年の古民家をリフォームしながら、あらゆるイベントを展開中。

Buried TeaBowl a new solo work in progress 2021

Yumi is creating a new solo work Buried TeaBowl, an interdisciplinary work with dance, text, song and poetry, inspired by Japanese female dancer/shaman, Okuni in 1600’s. The work in progress was completed in Aug 2021, and will be premiered in a live and digital performance in 2022.

Yumi's new solo work Buried TeaBowl, a work in progress, Aug 2021

Buried Tea Bowl  is a new solo interdisciplinary work in development by Yumi Umiumare, bringing together dance, text, song and poetry with tea ceremony to create an intimate and epic work with both live and digital iterations.

Buried Tea Bowl channels the character of Okuni, a Japanese female shaman who initiated Kabuki during the Edo period (1600s). Kabuki comes from the word ‘Kabuku’, meaning bent or out of the ordinary, and was regarded as a subversive non-art form, passionately expressing ugliness and beauty. Later women were banned from performing Kabuki – the male performers who took over the art form can be seen as the first Japanese Drag Queens. Even though she was one of the most powerful female figures in theatre history, not many people know about Okuni, even in Japan.

Combining Yumi’s practice of Japanese tea ceremony, which flourished at the same period as Okuni was alive, she is choosing the ‘tea bowl’ as a creative metaphor of precious sacred female power which was buried under history.

World Tea Gathering in Adelaide Nov 2018

The Art Gallery of South Australia will host the 2018 World Tea Gathering this November as part of the OzAsia Festival. Tea artists from Australia, France, Japan, Brazil and Germany will assemble from the 2nd to 9th of November, presenting a week of pop-up events and performances celebrating the art of tea.

Journey to the gallery for unique encounters with the World Tea Gathering artists through tea. Tonight marks the informal start of the World Tea Gathering. 
Impromptu tea rituals take place throughout the gallery as well as scheduled performances inspired by the spirit of tea.
Yumi Umiumare, Adam Wojciński and Erika Kobayashi will perform a tea ritual with no utensils, no tea. The performance elucidates the essence of tea ritual through the emotion of the human body. 
In addition to your bowl of tea, enjoy the hypnotic sounds of the Moonta Street band and take a tour with a Gallery Guide through some of our international displays.

Joining Back to Back Theatre's Tokyo Tour Oct 2018

Yumi is joining Back to Back Theatre’s Tokyo tour, performing in their masterpiece, small metal objects, a theatre show in the public domain; part voyeuristic meditation, part urban thriller.

An ingenious theatrical gem, small metal objects unfolds amidst the high volume pedestrian traffic of Ikebukuro Nishiguchi-park. With individual sets of headphones, the audience is wired into an intensely personal drama being played out somewhere in the crowd.

We’re gonna go dancing II!!is a national dance festival in Japan, run by JCDN (Japan Contemporary Dance Network).Yumi was appointed to be working as a choreographer in the regional dance program in Hakata, Fukuoka, Japan, creating a new working with local artists who were chosen by the public audition.

WHITE DAY DREAM 白昼夢 SERIES

A series of experimentations of visual poetries, film work and physical theatre, inspired by Yumi’s own experience of her brother who had a cerebral hemorrhage. Is it really happening right in front of us or are we daydreaming? What if our piled up memories were suddenly erased? Our memories are like a heritage but our brain could hemorrhage.

White Day Dream(白昼夢)is a series of experimentations of visual poetries, film work and physical theatre, inspired by Yumi’s own experience of her brother who had a cerebral hemorrhage. Like a dream itself, the work try to recalling viewer’s emotion and subconscious, and portrays physical and psycho-emotional realms where things are at once unexpectedly linked and disconnected. Our idea of ‘reality’ blurs fluctuates and we try to substitute it with our own visionary fantasy and imagination.

Is it really happening right in front of us or are we daydreaming?

Talk You Me

Collaboration with Brunswick Women's Theatre, the project aims to provide a supportive, creative environment for all women, particularly women from Non-English Speaking backgrounds and other under represented groups, to explore the richness of their own lives through the use of theatre and performance skills.

When language is lost and new meanings sought, English becomes the second language and our human language is revived in an experimentation of movement, lyrics, rhythm and stories.

BRUNSWICK WOMENS THEATRE – DISCOVERING THE NEED TO SPEAK AND SPEAKING THE UNSPOKEN

Brunswick Women’s Theatre aims to provide a supportive, creative environment for all women, particularly women from Non-English Speaking backgrounds and other under represented groups, to explore the richness of their own lives through the use of theatre skills, with the aim of developing empowerment through increased self esteem, enhanced social networks and a greater understanding of the personal and collective experiences of women. And through the fruition of these processes, to provide the community with performances that are not only expressive of the women in the group, but also of a high artistic quality.

The Intent of The Brunswick Women’s Theatre: There is no process of audition in BWT and performances do not rely on talent, but on the importance of the story to the group and the broader community. BWT is not a fixed group. With every new project women are sourced through community networking, assisting women from marginalised communities to enhance self esteem and relieve experiences of social isolation. Through public performances, Brunswick Women’s Theatre successfully promotes community understanding of such issues as displacement, trauma, discrimination and survival for culturally and linguistically diverse women. Once upon time at midnight ある真夜中に

Once Upon a Midnight is a Japanese/Australian rock musical. The script is bilingual, featuring seven Japanese performers and seven Australian performers. It follows the adventures of Kelsey Clarke and the warrior doll Nozomi as they journey to the Underground to liberate the monster world from the mysterious Angelica.

Once Upon a Midnight is a Japanese/Australian rock musical. The script is bilingual, featuring seven Japanese performers and seven Australian performers. It follows the adventures of Kelsey Clarke and the warrior doll Nozomi as they journey to the Underground to liberate the monster world from the mysterious Angelica.

The show was first performed at the Kijimuna Festival in Okinawa, Japan, and later appeared as a headline act at the OzAsia Festival in Adelaide, South Australia. It was a collaboration between the Kijimuna Festival, Flinders University Drama Centre and Adelaide Festival Centre.

Synopsis

Kelsey Clarke is very afraid. She is afraid of germs, she is afraid of traffic…even the toaster makes her feel very afraid.

Deep in the Underground, the monsters are afraid too. Angelica, the Blue Fairy, has flown into their world. No longer will the monsters be allowed to terrify unsuspecting children, no longer can they drink blood and dance the night away.

Powerless to confront Angelica, the Tengu — Lord of the Underground — has no choice but to find the world’s most frightened child and teach her to confront her fear. For timid Kelsey, this means putting on her best cardigan and plunging headlong into the monster kingdom — from murky swamps to haunted Ghost Roads!

With an enchanted doll and a vegetarian vampire to guide her, Kelsey touches her darker side. But is becoming her own nightmare any better than cowering alone under blankets? Can Kelsey summon the courage to find her true self, face her demons and stand against the magical Angelica? Or will the sun rise forever on a future where only the fearful survive?
