ルーマニアの舞踏合宿🍀

ドラキュラで有名なトランシルバニアの山奥で、実験的に舞踏を探る１０日間の合宿が先週終わった。山の緑と美しい空気を清涼な水の流れる川に囲まれている素晴らしい場所のおかげで、あっという間に日が経っていった。
名前はButoh Lab Camp だが、実際にキャンプする人は数人。
稽古場の上のドミトリーで寝る人たち、山小屋風の家に泊まる人たちといろいろ。もちろん私たち先生とオーガナイザーには個室が与えられるが、３食出されるベジタリアンの食事を共に食べる共同生活の中、BUTOHに浸る１０日間だった！
私を含む４組の先生が、４５人ほどの参加者と共にワークショップでそれぞれのBUTOH観をシェアする。先生も、他の先生のワークショップに参加できる。
中盤から参加者は、どの先生のワークショプを受け続けるを選び、最終日にはちょっとしたプレゼンもする。私のチームはいつも（！）ユニークでワイルドな人たちの集まりになるが、今回も、多国籍でワイルドな特殊集団！オーストラリアのコアラも参加した。笑😆
10年前にドイツで参加したex.it!舞踏合宿（世界各国から１００人ぐらい集まる）を思い出した。今回は規模はその半分ぐらいだが、世界中の人が集まり、自然に囲まれた中、BUTOHを探る日々。そこからインスピレーションを得て、メルボルンでButohOUT!を始めた。そのButohOUT!も8年が経った今、新しい転換期を迎えている中、今回再び改めて新しい発見や、インスピレーションをもらえた。
中でも、７０過ぎてもバリバリダンサー・オーガナイザー、とても知的な（そして天然笑）由美子さんは本当に私のロールモデルで、世界中に舞踏を広める素晴らしいアーティストだ。踊ることで世界中が平和でありますよう、という彼女の存在が参加者を優しくさせる。
肉体派オーガナイザーMatilde、アフロ舞踏を提唱するTebby、初めて会った日から旧来の親友のように感じたMarlene, 淡々としてピュアな姿が美しいSachiko さんとThierry、今回のクリエイティブ・チームも素晴らしかった。
緑と自然、牛と犬たち(そしてあちこちの牛糞🤣）、自然とアートから受けた身体的、知的刺激を受けることのできたこの１０日間。今、やっとここで、振り返ることができました。
この週末イギリスのオックスフォードでワークショップを終え、今日からポーランド、そこから次はアメリカ・シアトル近くでの舞踏フェスに参加します〜！
次もまた、新しいひらめきと共に、次の段階に上昇できますように。

Europe Tour＃１
★Butoh Lab Camp in Romania🍀
Deep in the mountains of Transylvania（ yes, the land of Dracula! ）we’ve just finished a 10-day experimental Butoh camp last week. Surrounded by lush green hills, fresh mountain air, and a crystal-clear river, the days flew by.!!
It’s called Butoh Lab Camp, but only a few actually “camp.” Most stay in a dorm above the studio or in charming wooden mountain cabins. Teachers and organisers (including me!) get our own rooms, but we all share three vegetarian meals a day — living, breathing, and dreaming BUTOH together for 10 days.
Four teaching teams worked with about 45 participants. We also joined each other’s workshops. Midway through, participants chose a teacher to stay with until the end, leading to small presentations on the final day. My group (as always!) was wonderfully unique and wild bunch of people, dancing outdoors… even joined by an Australian Koala!😆
It’s been 8 years since I started ButohOUT! in Melbourne, inspired by the ex.it! International Butoh gathering in Germany 10 years ago. Now, as ButohOUT! reaches a turning point, this Butoh Lab gave me fresh discoveries and deep inspiration again.
Special thanks to my role model Yumiko-san( over 70yo!) still a powerful dancer and organiser, wise yet delightfully quirky — who spreads 'Butoh bug' worldwide with her beautiful being and gentle wish that dance will make the world more peaceful. Her presence were essential in this workshop!
BIG THANKS to the amazing team: physical powerhouse organiser Matilde, a beautiful & intelligent Agnes, grounding figure Puski, and teachers : Afro-Butoh dancer(such a great combo!!) Tebby, instantly-like-a-long-time-friend / rare Butoh soul Marlene, and the pure, calm beauty of Sachiko-san and Thierry.
Ten days of nature and ART, cows and dogs (and cow pooo!!), stimulating ideas and discussion… I’m only now beginning to reflect on it all.
Now in UK after doing a weekend workshop in Oxford, I’m to Poland today before taking off to the Salish Sea Butoh Festival in USA.
May the next stage bring new sparks of inspiration ✨
